Sergio is an internationally recognized leader across various industries with a common theme of developing innovative public-private multi-stakeholder governance models, from shaping social impact initiatives, regulatory frameworks to smart city policy & programs.
Sergio over the last two decades has founded, invested and/or participated in over 23 companies, rolled up & acquired over 19 companies and has been involved in raising over 750m across his career. Most notably known for building one of America’s fastest growing billboard companies, Fuel Outdoor, from zero to top 3 privately owned in the USA sold to Van Wagner in 2012 and exiting his next venture a Smart City company 5 years later, P3 Global Management to Portobello Capital.
Today he is the Executive Chairman of PVBLIC Foundation and P3 Smart City Partners, Inc.
At P3 Smart City he leads the global development and policy work behind structuring Public Private Partnerships (PPP) that embrace social change, digital infrastructure and connected cities with agencies at all levels.
At PVBLIC he leads the foundation’s engagement with Governments from the White House to the United Nations and multinationals; public & private.
Over the last ten years Sergio has helped launch or played an instrumental role in developing platform and initiatives to advance impact across the globe. From his work at the United Nations helping develop the Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG) of the SDG Fund, SDG Media Zone, SDG Media Summit, UN Family Office for Sustainable Development, Blockchain Commission & BFI, SDG Data Hub, Alianza de Impacto Latino & LIS Summit, to the White House’s “Its On Us” & “Drink Up” initiatives and many other notable global movements with associated Donor Advised Fund structures to support and invest in the various initiates.
Sergio has been celebrated locally & internationally for his work over the last 15 years. In 2012, Dell Inc. named Sergio one of its #Inspired 100 global influencers. in 2016, Crain’s honored Sergio as a finalist to the Hispanic Executive & Entrepreneur Award. In 2017 he was celebrated as the top 3 most influential people, by the UN Social 500 list & in 2018 was Real Leaders magazine’s Top 100 Global Visionary Leaders. In 2019 he was honored with America’s most distinguished award, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, given only to American Immigrants whose life work exemplifies the American Dream.
A graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s in Sociology, Sergio also completed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Birthing of Giants® executive program.
