Margaret Hoover

Host, Firing Line

Margaret Hoover is a PBS anchor and best-selling author with extensive experience in government, public policy and private philanthropy management. Ms. Hoover developed and hosts the PBS public affairs program “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover”, which she produces for national weekly syndication. Ms. Hoover is the author of “American Individualism: How a New Generation of Conservatives Can Save the Republican Party” and her writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the New York Daily News, The Daily Beast, Fox News and CNN, where she is an on-air contributor. Raised in Denver, Colorado, Ms. Hoover has worked on Capitol Hill, in the White House for President George W. Bush and in the Department of Homeland Security. She has worked on two presidential campaign efforts and has advised individuals and foundations on political and philanthropic strategy. Ms. Hoover serves on the boards of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Markle Foundation, the Hoover Institution, the Hoover Presidential Foundation, and the Belgian American Educational Foundation. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College, she is a fluent Spanish speaker and studied Mandarin Chinese while living and working in Taiwan and China. She resides in New York City with her husband and two children.
